Imprint is a carefully crafted Shopify app designed to help you sell digital files securely and effortlessly.
If you've ever tried selling files directly through Shopify, you know the struggle: generic download links that can be shared with anyone. Imprint changes the game. We create a unique, secure link for every single customer. This gives you the power to limit downloads, track usage, and revoke access at any time.
🚀 How It Works
The entire process is completely automated. Once you set it up (which only takes a few minutes), here is how your customers experience it:
- Instant Delivery via Email: As soon as an order is paid, Imprint automatically emails the secure download link to your customer.
- Instant Access at Checkout: Using our Checkout UI Extension, you can display download buttons directly on the "Thank You" and "Order Status" pages. Your customers get their files the second they buy!
Once the links are delivered, Imprint also marks the digital items as fulfilled in Shopify (you can turn this off in Order Settings), so you don't have to do it by hand.
🛡️ The Secret Weapon: PDF Watermarking
This is where Imprint truly shines. We don't just deliver files; we protect them.
Imprint allows you to stamp or watermark your PDF files in real-time. You can overlay unique details, like the customer's Email, Name, Order Number or Company, directly onto the pages of the PDF. You can even stamp details your customers enter when they order, such as a name for a personalized edition.
Why does this matter? It's a powerful psychological deterrent against piracy. When a file is stamped with a buyer's personal email address, they are significantly less likely to share it publicly on the internet. It turns a generic file into a personal asset.
🔎 Leak Protection: Find Out Who Shared It
A watermark discourages sharing. Leak protection tells you who shared a file when it turns up online anyway.
- Copy tracking: Every download gets its own copy code, and every order gets a licence code. The order page keeps a Download Log of every copy, and Find Order by Code takes you from a code to its order. Learn more
- Tracing marks: Hide each download's copy code inside the PDF where your customers can't see it, with an optional QR code. Learn more
- Leak tracing: Found your PDF on a website? Upload it, and Imprint tells you whose download it was. Learn more
- Takedown notices: Draft a notice asking the website to remove the copies. Learn more

🌍 Speaks Your Language (and Your Customers')
Imprint is available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Japanese, Greek, Hungarian, Polish and Turkish.
- You see the app in the language of your Shopify admin.
- Your customers get their download email, the checkout downloads and any download messages (like an expired link) in the language they shopped in. If Imprint doesn't speak that language, they get the language of your Shopify admin, or English.
